
He lived longer than one hundred years, he could list more than one thousand songs to his credit, he was named at birth, Israel, but most knew him as Irving Berlin. It was he who wrote the wonderful tribute, "God Bless America." At his centennial celebration, many came from far and wide to Canegie Hall to honor him. He was well known for his unbelievable generosity to organizations which helped make America strong. Irving Berlin died in his sleep at the ripe old age of 101, in New York City, September 22, 1989. |
